Build Like a Beaver 2022

Build Like a Beaver 2023!

The California PBR Network is pleased to present a two part training with a 1 hour Zoom meeting followed by a 2-day training in beautiful Yellow Creek, in Plumas County near Lake Almanor. This is a full participation workshop. Please plan to attend the Zoom call and both days as they will build on each other.

With our instructors 40+ combined years of expertise, 70 miles and 3,000 structures built, you’ll be getting muddy right along with the most experienced practitioners west of Utah. Gain new levels of watershed and landscape scale visioning.

Tour and build structures in a variety of stream widths and gradients to develop a broad library of techniques from BDAs to PALS to Zeedyk structures and many hybrids in between.

Learn the basics of material selection and flow, structure assembly from streambed to floodplain, and what to build where.

Join in-depth analysis and discussion of several individual structures a day to develop a better understanding of basic structural mechanics and how they develop over time.

Integrate the most recent and innovative research with your project design.

Learn to design a mile of stream per day, with just a phone and a drone, by letting the stream tell you where to build.

While a PBR build is a low-hazard environment and we usually encourage all ages and families, to foster a more focused learning environment we respectfully request that pets, children, and non-attendees be left at home.

Introduction and Q&A (Zoom meeting): Oct. 9, 2023, 3 pm – 4 pm

Training at Yellow Creek: October 12-13 2023, 8 am – 5 pm (please arrive Oct 11th before dark)
